End of School Year Troubles

So this year has been a wild one. We started the school year in August of 2016 and at the time I was just floating around the different class rooms providing snacks, breaks and what ever else is needed for the rooms. January of 2017 I was told that I will be in a classroom because the teacher would be getting more kids that would put her over the ratio. It has been an up hill battle dealing with all these personalities of the children.

We have one little girl who will call others names, hurts others and is just mean to everyone else. Little did we know but the one boy who always has something to say about her is not always the most honest child on campus. Yesterday he spit in another child's face and I took him straight to the directors office because I will not stand for any of this. Thankfully his mom had come early (3 pm)  and I told her that I had something to give to her and she got scared of what I was going to give to her. I walked into the classroom and grabbed the incident report. Man was she surprised of what happened. I was so thankful that he left early yesterday.

I am at that point where I am slowly giving up. This place is going down hill real fast and we are all getting taken down with the sinking ship. I am under paid and over worked. No one should be this over worked and not get any real benefits out of it.

I will be post more stories about what is going on. So more to come. :)

Field Trips

Today was the first time this school year the preschoolers went on a field trip along with the elementary kids to see a stage performance of Annie. I was fairly confident that things would go well. The preschool side only two classes went (3-5 year olds) and between 4 teachers the kids were split up among us and I had three kids. When we got to the school there was so much mass confusion that I ended up with at least 10 children that I had all holding hands in a single file. I very much felt like Mary Poppins with the kids all holding hands in a line.

There was confusion when we got there since the people in charge were not ready for so almost 40 children and most of the children's parents and teachers from one school. The show was rather good for a low budget show.

At the end of the show I took my 10 kids to the bathroom. Since it was a mixture of boys and girls I had to find one of the dads that came along to take my boys into the bathroom while I took the girls into the very much long line of the woman's bathroom. When I finally came out of the bathroom I found one of my boys wandering around the lobby and I flipped. He had come with his mom and brother and it turns out the mom left with one boy and left one behind to finish the show and told no one that she was taking one of them and leaving the other behind. So with my 10 kids plus the one that was lost and the dad we made our way down to the bus.

When we got back all the parents who had come took their kids with them and there were only a few kids left so we had a kick back day and didn't do any kind of work with them which they all loved. Ended with two hours of overtime. I have been awake since 4 am and as of now it's almost 11 at night. I am beyond tired  and am so ready to sleep.

2 years as a teacher.

It has been a very exciting and very trying time these two years. I was given two weeks notice from the school I had been at for a year and a half then after a fees weeks of searching I was interviewed and hired at a Montessori school and the owner was there the day I was filling out paper work and she really liked me and offered me a position at her school as a 2 year old assailant teacher which is what I have been wanting for the longest time.

I officially started in August and this is month four and I am still loving it. I actually have full time status (8-5) every day and it is so much better then being a floater and break person.

Celebrating one year.

This past Friday I celebrated one year working as a preschool teacher. It has a been a surreal experience. In the past year I have been known as the comforter, cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, strict enforcer of the rules and many more things. I have grown to love all my children and will forever love all the children that will come and go through the school. I will forever remember all the laughter of all my kids.

I will work on getting more blog ideas to be posted. There will be many posts about being a teacher and different crafts we do during the day.

December as a teacher

Since October I was only "on-call" meaning they would would call me when they needed me which maybe a few times a week or maybe twice a month but I got an awesome Christmas gift from work. Starting January 6th I have a more permanent position. I get to work the after school care from 3-6 plus I get to still be a sub teacher. I am very excited about this. I will post more once I start back January 6th.
